Lilium gloriosoides refers to a rare, deep red variant of the Japanese Show Lily (Lilium speciosum var. gloriosoides), prized for its stunning flowers but known for being challenging to grow and flower, originally from China and introduced to Europe in the 1870s but later lost to cultivation for a time, with modern efforts to reestablish it. It's a late-blooming lily that prefers moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil with roots in shade and its head in the sun, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.
